At the end of May 2024, the Zimbabwean government announced that it would take initial steps - starting in 2024 - to compensate those who were affected by the expropriation in the early 2000s despite an existing investment protection agreement. The amount earmarked for 2024 is limited to USD 20 million.

Those affected should register their claims directly and personally with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.
