The German Embassy's small scale projects fund

Article

What is a Small Scale Project?

The Small Scale Project Scheme is part of Germany’s overall development co-operation that contributes to poverty alleviation and improvement of living standards, and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). To be eligible for support by the German Embassy, project proposals must meet certain criteria, including the following:

  • The implementing agency must be an experienced, qualified and reliable organization, such as a non-governmental organization or a trust, and must be officially registered.
  • The implementing agency must contribute financially to the project and be capable of financing follow-up or ongoing costs.

What does the German Embassy finance?

The German Embassy supports projects that can be completed within the same year the contract is signed. A project cannot be funded if it has previously been supported by the German Embassy or by any other German development organization. Projects considered for funding typically have a budget between 6,000 USD and 15,000 USD.

Project Examples: construction of a classroom, renovation of maternity ward, installation of solar power etc.

Projects targeting individuals or privileged groups, as well as staff costs for permanent employees, microcredits, and similar expenses, are not eligible for funding.

Please submit the completed application form to the German Embassy by email. Fill it out carefully, ensuring all questions are answered fully. Be sure to include all the required documents mentioned in the form.

The Embassy will review your application and make a decision on whether your project can be supported. Please note that due to the high volume of applications and limited funding, not all complete applications can be funded. Following a favorable funding decision, a written contract must be signed. The project can only begin thereafter.
